Today was the first day in many and the only day in the next 15 (according to the forecast which changes hourly) with no rain and a wee bit of sun in sight. I kept telling Jon he needed to take advantage of it and try to go golfing. We had no responsibilities today with the missionaries, I just needed to be available to pick up one of our teachers from the hospital after she had a knee surgery. It has been a little hard on my man...never being able to make a plan (because the weather is so unpredictable...but actually it is usually mostly cloudy or raining). What he has finally decided this week is, he is going to live whether it is raining or not, so we are searching for some rain pants and coat, and waterproof shoes.
A note about the weather...the sun is often peeking through in the morning. I get out and go for my run. It is usually between 35-45 degrees, but it doesn't feel that cold once I get running. I get my 45 minutes of fresh air and deep breathing and after I get home and showered and such and get back out, it feels freezing outside and is often very overcast and misting or raining off and on. Not very inviting for us to take walks or hikes or golf. We have many flexible days here and if the weather was just a little better, Jon could have some fun on the golf course.
Anyway, he finally started to call some courses close by and none of them were letting golfers out. The courses were too wet. So, he tried this course over in St. Annes, it's closer to the ocean and sandier. Hence, it can dry out faster. They were letting golfers out. By the time I picked him up that evening, he was completely frozen. Even with all the clothes he had on. He was "chilled to the bone". BUT, I think his heart was happy, having spent some time outdoors, walking, golfing and feeling alive!
