MTC Group 1 Feb 2017

These are our new forty three missionaries! They are from twenty four countries and every continent. We have been together for four days and they are pretty darn amazing! Jon was able to set Sister Bacchus apart on Wednesday when she arrived. We found out her mother had passed away the Tuesday before she came. I was amazed. Seven of our missionaries will go to the temple Tuesday to receive their own endowment. They are from countries where they couldn't get to a temple; India, Guvana, Zambia, Albania and Mongolia. We had testimonies borne today in German (by our missionaries who have been learning German for three days), Greek (same), Portuguese, Tongan and a prayer in Armenian. None of these missionaries are here learning English, they have learned it previously. One Elder and Sister are blood brother and sister. Two have amazing singing voices (both from England) and many, many other talents and fun personalities. They are working hard and I am so proud of them. I am thankful to be their MTC mother!

That is very special. It's fun to see the work that you and Uncle Jon are doing. Very different in so many ways to the MTC in Utah or even as Mission President I bet. Setting missionaries apart, taking them to the temple for the first time, etc. I always take for granted how global the Church is. Living and serving my mission in the States, I didn't come across that many members from other countries. But I just had the opportunity to attend a Ward in Taiwan and the members were from all over the world (e.g., Indonesia, Philippines, New Zealand, Australia, UK, Brazil). I was just blown away by everyone's testimony and the Spirit of the Gospel that unites as all.
