she's changing right before my eyes!

miss lauren lucy has spent the last twenty-eight months of her life ignoring and giving dirty looks to anyone that isn't a part of her inner circle. over the last four weeks or so, she has decided that it is fun to acknowledge "others". everyone has become a potential playmate. i started to notice her changing, when she invited her papa jon to come watch "finding nemo" with her one afternoon. the next change i saw was, one morning while i was watching her, our cousin melanie stopped by the house on her way out of town. we were standing at the door chatting, and up walked lauren. melanie said, "hi!, lauren lucy! i just saw your mom." to which lauren replied, "my mom goes to the doctor." not with a smile, but she spoke! i looked at her, and told melanie how special she must be for lauren to speak to her. it was the first time i had ever seen her speak to an "other". break-through!

last week, kristen and i took my mother and father some lunch and of course lauren came along for the visit. she walked in the house and went right up to my dad and told him, "my mom's car is white." of course he had no idea what she was telling him, but she visited with her great grand parents, and asked them if they wanted to play with her. one perk to visiting on a day other than sunday, they could! of course they are game for anything if one of these little ones isn't afraid of them, especially grandpa! so she had them playing musical instruments with her, playing lock yourself in the closet with great grandpa, and when he finally escaped for a breather in his chair, i heard her go find him and ask, "you want to play with me?" it will be one of my favorite memories for ever!

this week when we were running a couple of errands she was telling the lady at the drive-up window at the bank, "i'm two!" she was instructing me that lauren was going to tell her, she didn't want me to talk for her. i guess she is a big girl now...just in time to become a big sister! i can hardly wait to see how she reacts to her new little man that will become a part of her life. she tells me he is coming monday, i wonder what in the world she thinks that means?

Change is good but I hope I can always remember her as she was just a tiny handful as well. She told me that I was TOO big for her white car. I am so glad she gets to know and enjoy so much of her family. Hope to catch up with you someday...maybe Monday?

how fun that you see her enough to notice these changes. I hope my grandkids will all live nearby when I have them!

What a cute video to have!
