California Santa Rosa Mission

The call has come.

We are finally allowed to talk about it! Our mission is YELLOW on this map.

How do you like my new home? Is that a giant bird walking around in front?

We were quite surprised to say the least when we opened our letter. I had totally geared myself up for somewhere crazy. When I read California I thought "what"? It didn't feel like it would be nearly the sacrifice I was preparing for. But after the initial shock wore off, I am really getting excited to be in Santa Rosa. I'm thinking it will be a beautiful place, much smaller, wine country, rural towns...a change of pace for the Bunker's. Staying in America? I will be able to talk to the people:), understand how much I'm paying for my groceries:), Hailey will probably have a more "normal" high school experience:), my CHILDREN and GRANDCHILDREN can hop on a plane and see me ANYTIME:), we are all concentrating on the positives!

Why is Santa Rosa designated as Spanish speaking? Our MTC tutor told us his understanding was that we would be sent native speaking missionaries. It will be fun to make contact with the existing President and his wife and see what they have to say.

CALIFORNIA, here we come!

I am so happy for you too! Maybe we'll even stop by to visit!! We went through Santa Rosa just a few months ago when we went to Napa and on to San Francisco. It is beautiful around there. I'm sure your children are all relieved and excited too. What a great experience, and the missionaries are gonna love you guys! (We'll miss you)

I love Northern California! It's so beautiful! I bet you are a little glad and a little sad.... glad to be able to communicate with grocery clerks, and your kids can visit... but sad that you didn't get the adventure of a new country... Northern California will be a fun, safe, clean new adventure!! The people there are so lucky to get you!

It will be a great experience!! So happy for you!!

Congratulations! I think you will love it there! Such beautiful country, very different from Las Vegas. Kevin's brother served in that mission and loved it! I've lived in Berkeley and Sacramento. I know they're not in your mission, but No. Cal. is a fun place to live. Enjoy!!!
P.S. I will still miss your family terribly!

The Barrow Family lives in YUBA CITY, California...so we will have to come to visit when we go see them. We have done a family reunion in Fort Bragg-a small coastal town in your mission! It will be an amazing and life changing experience. We are in awe of your faithfulness and obedience!
