Last Saturday night Jon and I went to a reunion of sorts put on by a few of the Tingey siblings. (there are 12 children in their family) Linda, Lisa and Bruce decided to try to get some "old friends" together after many years. There were people in attendance from Western 1976 graduating class, on down to Clark and Bonanza 1977, 1978, with even some young, young, people, I don't know what year they graduated. And a few from far away places! It was really fun to see people we haven't seen for awhile, and very fun to remember the "good old days" as the microphone was sent around and we all told of our favorite high school memories! (my comment was about the ability Clark had to beat Western in any and all sports, no matter what, for the years Jon was at Western.) As we were driving home Jon asked me if that was really my favorite memory. I told him no, but I had made my mind up to rub it in his face, again, so I didn't really bother to talk about my favorite memories. What are some of my favorite high school memories?
*the intense rivalry between Clark and Western High School. (I went to jr. high with kids who mostly all went to Western, so I had a lot of fun friends at Western. We all liked each other, except when we were at a sporting event where we were playing each other.) maybe this is where i learned the art of being able to like BYU when UNLV isn't playing them!
*my graduating class was split in two and the other half went to Bonanza and became their first graduating class. It was sad, but I felt like I knew people at all the high schools around me.
*really, this is #1! flag twirling!!! i don't know what happened to flag twirlers. i actually don't know how the "tall flags" stuck, and flag twirlers got phased out, but those early morning practices (hair in curlers), marching with the band, doing half times and assemblies, and going to camp in Santa Barbara ("your sleeping with ben tonight, you know he's gay!") and the girls I did it with, are my best memories!
*early, early morning seminary! yes, I know it is unbelievable, but since I had an early bird class at school, I went to seminary before the regular students. Actually I don't remember a whole lot that I learned, but I do remember the people that were in my class and our teacher. I have fond feelings for both!
Jon remarked, and I have to second his opinion, that he is so grateful for a happy childhood, and for good memories of friends and activities that he was involved with in high school. Thank you to everyone, that have been a part of our lives and continue to hold in our hearts, a very special place!

How fun! It's like a high school reunion with only the people that you want to see! The pictures were fun... I miss Pam Brooks!
Dang, I'm sorry we missed that. We got an invitation
so long ago and must have totally spaced it. It looks
like it was a lot of fun and even though I didn't
grow up here, I recognized most of the people in the pictures. Some I haven't seen for awhile. We ended up going with Brad's parents to see the new "EMMA'
movie. It is worth seeing. I loved it.
i have to agree with you that YOUR flag twirling was my #1 favorite about your high school years. LOL. i remember sitting out back in the grass at the del rey house watching you practice for hours! i thought you were the most glamorous. and once you took me with you to the locker room at Clark, and i felt like i was so official being there -- like a real high-schooler myself :)
Jane said it was fun to see you and that you all had a great time. Where are the flag twirling videos?
go chargers! i haven't seen pam brooks in so long, i love her.
i kinda find it weird that i know some of those people in those pictures!
Wow...you did such a fancy slide show of us! (I guess we could have all brought our flags and done a little twirling routine for entertainment, huh? Yikes!!)
First, what a great blog . . . thanks for sharing with me! That evening went much too quickly, not enough time to visit with everyone . . I wish we could have chatted! I miss Jen and Suzanne . . hope their both doing great! Las Vegas has been good to me, I know such wonderful people . . . I have so much to be grateful for.
